What Sets MJ Kloss Apart
Getting Ready
Ahead of putting anything up, we carry out a survey of the property, design the scaffold to suit the work and sort out any pavement licence needed by the council.
Quality of Work
Qualified and fully insured scaffolding specialists assemble the structure, and we ensure it receives regular inspections during its period of use.
Completion
The team carries out as much of the job as they can manage during a single visit, after which the scaffold is taken down straight away and the property is left neat.
How We Can Help
Scaffolding used in decorating
We set up scaffolding that lets our decorators work safely when painting the walls, windows, fascias and woodwork on each level of your property.
Access to roofs and gutters
For roof repairs, clearing gutters and work on fascias and soffits, MJ Kloss offers safe access, adding edge protection wherever it is required.
Scaffolding for chimneys
Our team sets up chimney scaffolds so repointing, flashing repairs and pot replacement can be done safely without scaffolding the entire house.
Mobile access towers
A mobile tower is often faster and more cost-effective than full scaffolding for work in stairwells, under high ceilings and on smaller exterior jobs.
Scaffolding for schools and commercial sites
For shops, offices and schools, we schedule scaffolding to fit opening hours and term dates, while making sure entrances remain clear and people stay safe.
Access Tower or Scaffolding?
Which type of access is right depends on the work. Here's a guide:
- Full scaffolding – ideal for painting entire elevations, repairing roofs and lengthier jobs covering two or more storeys
- Chimney scaffold – best suited to mending chimney stacks without erecting scaffolding around the whole building
- Mobile access tower – the best choice for stairwells, tall ceilings, single-storey projects and shorter jobs
- Ladders – intended only for brief, light tasks such as inspections
Our estimator will advise which option is safest and most cost-effective for your job.

Common Questions
Is permission required for scaffolding?
You generally do not need one if the scaffolding sits entirely on your own property. If it has to be set up on the pavement or public highway, the council must grant a licence first, and we handle this for you as part of the job.
What happens if the scaffolding has to go on my neighbour's property?
You must obtain your neighbour's consent before any scaffolding is erected on their property. We can guide you on the requirements and design the scaffold so any effect on them stays minimal.
How long will the scaffold remain in place?
For no longer than the job requires. We schedule the scaffolding to fit our work, so it's erected just before we begin and taken down shortly after we finish.
Does scaffolding create a security concern?
Security is an important priority for us. When work finishes each day, access ladders are taken away or secured with boards to prevent anyone climbing up, and we can recommend further precautions like alarms should they be required.
Is it possible to hire just the scaffolding?
We arrange scaffolding for jobs we're doing, including exterior decorating and roof repairs; we don't offer it for hire on its own.
