    Fix or Replace?

    You can count on our plumbers to give you an honest view on whether a repair is enough. Broadly speaking:

    • Dripping tap – fitting a new washer or cartridge normally solves the issue; a replacement is sensible if the tap is corroded or a different style is wanted
    • Running toilet – usually caused by a worn flush or fill valve that we can swap; the whole toilet needs changing only if cracked or if the bathroom is being updated
    • Weak or erratic shower – typically due to a blocked head or worn valve; an old or unsuitable shower is often better replaced
    • Old pipework – leaking or corroded sections can be swapped out; widespread corrosion may require renewing the entire run

    Are emergency call-outs available?

    We carry out plumbing work involving repairs and pre-arranged jobs, not 24-hour emergency call-outs. For a leak, stop the flow by turning off the stopcock, normally positioned under the kitchen sink, and then get in touch so we can organise a visit promptly.

    Can you fix any damage caused by a leak?

    Yes, and this is where MJ Kloss really helps. After the leak is sorted, our plasterers, tilers and decorators can mend stained ceilings, damaged walls and lifted tiles, so there is no need to hire another contractor.

    Can you help with boilers or central heating?

    No. Because hot water cylinders, boilers, radiators and central heating require specialist heating engineers, they fall outside our service. Our plumbers deal with taps, toilets, baths, showers, sinks, waste pipes and cold water supplies.

    Am I able to provide my own shower, toilet or taps?

    Certainly. We are glad to install the fixtures you have selected. Checking with us beforehand is sensible, to confirm they match your water pressure and current pipework and will operate correctly.

    Can you connect dishwashers and washing machines to the plumbing?

    Yes. Our plumbers link washing machines, dishwashers and fridge water supplies, installing fresh valves and waste connections as required.
