Hints and Tips
Here are a few practical tips from over 30 years experience.
Sometimes exterior paintwork does not last as long as it should. The four main reasons for this are:
| 1. | Painting over a wet or greasy surface |
| 2. | Painting over loose or crumbly surfaces, such as dirt and dust |
| 3. | Weather cold enough for frost or around the mid 80s under a blazing sun |
| 4. | Leaving it too long before your next decoration. This results in bare wood being exposed to the elements. It dries out the wood so losing its body and shrinking excessively in the cold while expanding in the heat, thereby cracking the paint. Fungus also grows on bare wood so increasing the possibility of rot. |
